Members of the Southeast Catholic HS Class of ‘52 attended the blessing of the rain gardens at Ss. John Neumann and Maria Goretti High School on September 15, 2017. The rain gardens were blessed by Rev. James Dalton. Also in attendance was Jennifer Cooper, Assistant Principal of Operations and Student Affairs.

The Class of ’52 provided the matching funds to a grant received from the Stormwater Management Incentive Program (SMIP) through Philadelphia Water and Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC). Installed on the 10th Street side of Neumann-Goretti High School, the rain gardens will reduce the amount of stormwater going into nearby combined sewer pipes. Plantings in the rain gardens will absorb the water collected.
